John Schirmer - Live Sound and Recording Engineer, Mixer

For the last sixteen years John Schirmer has toured the world with major label and independent artists.

As a Producer, FOH and Studio Mixer, Tracking Engineer, Production and Tour Manager, John has had the opportunity to develop an insiders look in to the entertainment industry. This is a privilege John does not take lightly. John believes that his experience with both live and studio artists, allows him to meld both worlds together to bring out the best in his artists and crew members. Both on the road and in the studio John works tirelessly to deliver the best possible performances.

Creating an equal balance between both, a positive and creative work environment, is John’s main goal in all of the projects he takes on. “If the vibe and energy are just right, the feel of the music will be undeniable.”

Just some of the artists and labels John has been able to call clients and most importantly friends are:

Artists include: Keb' Mo', Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Jackson Browne, The Black Eyed Peas, Melissa Manchester, Coco Montoya, Playing For Change, Marcus Miller, Dragpipe, Reach 454, Nicole Atkins, The Roots, Patti Labelle, Thelonious Monk Jr.

Record Labels include: Geffen, Capitol, Lava/Atlantic, Interscope, Epic, Concord and Sony.

Together they have all set out to create an “Equality Through Music.”

"I live for the moments that the lights go down and the bass rolls across the floor. These are the moments that define me, the moments that I anxiously await waking to each and everyday. My life is based around watching V.U. meters and riding faders. Music is my life and it defines me.”

It’s A Family Affair at Henson Studios

gallery_stdcontrol_02On December 15th, 2009 Keb’ Mo’ and myself were invited down to Henson Studios (aka..A&M Studios) in Hollywood, Ca to track two songs for an upcoming release for Concord Records called ‘Sting Theory.’

String Theory is being produced by legendary guitarist Lee Ritenour and Concord Records John Burk. Keb’ was asked to track two songs for ‘String Theory’, his own ‘Am I Wrong’ and B.B Kings ‘Why I Sing the Blues’. Joining Keb’ as players on this session were Nathan East on Bass, Lee Ritenour on Guitar, Harvey Mason on Drums and Larry Goldings on Keyboards and Piano.

Once again this was one of those historic can’t miss sessions for myself and Twelve Tone Music, as well as Keb’ Mo’. And from both organizations we wish Lee, John and ‘String Theory’ the best success.
