John Schirmer - Live Sound and Recording Engineer, Mixer

For the last sixteen years John Schirmer has toured the world with major label and independent artists.

As a Producer, FOH and Studio Mixer, Tracking Engineer, Production and Tour Manager, John has had the opportunity to develop an insiders look in to the entertainment industry. This is a privilege John does not take lightly. John believes that his experience with both live and studio artists, allows him to meld both worlds together to bring out the best in his artists and crew members. Both on the road and in the studio John works tirelessly to deliver the best possible performances.

Creating an equal balance between both, a positive and creative work environment, is John’s main goal in all of the projects he takes on. “If the vibe and energy are just right, the feel of the music will be undeniable.”

Just some of the artists and labels John has been able to call clients and most importantly friends are:

Artists include: Keb' Mo', Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Jackson Browne, The Black Eyed Peas, Melissa Manchester, Coco Montoya, Playing For Change, Marcus Miller, Dragpipe, Reach 454, Nicole Atkins, The Roots, Patti Labelle, Thelonious Monk Jr.

Record Labels include: Geffen, Capitol, Lava/Atlantic, Interscope, Epic, Concord and Sony.

Together they have all set out to create an “Equality Through Music.”

"I live for the moments that the lights go down and the bass rolls across the floor. These are the moments that define me, the moments that I anxiously await waking to each and everyday. My life is based around watching V.U. meters and riding faders. Music is my life and it defines me.”

Keb’ Mo’s New Record Live and Mo’ Released Oct. 14th 2009

new_album_coverThe biggest news out of the Twelve Tone Camp is the release of Keb’ Mo’s latest record Live and Mo’.

Live and Mo’ is a collection of 6 live songs, that were recorded and mixed by John Schirmer from Keb’s 2008 summer tour, and 4 brand new studio tracks that were tracked by John Schirmer, and mixed by John Schirmer and Keb’ Mo’ at Keb’s West LA studio.

Live’ and Mo’ was mastered again by Stephen Marsh at Stephen Marsh Mastering in Hollywood, Ca. A big thanks to Stephen on this one.

This was a really fun record to make, and both John and Keb’ are really proud of it. Live and Mo’ is John Schirmer’s first record with Keb’ Mo’ and the first of many more to come. Please check it out.

Coco Montoya “I Want It All Back” Mixed, Mastered, Done!

imagesI know it’s been a while since I have written anything on my site, but I have been a busy man. For the last month I have been mixing three records for release in late 2009 and early 2010. One of which was for famed blues guitarist Coco Montoya.

I started this project early in 2009 with Keb’ Mo’ and Jeff Paris as the producers and Hank Linderman and myself as the main tracking engineers. Touring for both Keb’ Mo’ and Coco delayed the completion of this record a bit, but on September 15th I received all of the completed tracks and began mixing for a September 27th deadline. Coco and I spent day and night hammering through the details with a fine tooth comb and by 7AM the morning of the 27th, Coco had a record that he could be proud of.

This record was a lot of fun to be a part of and I am glad that Coco and I got a chance to work together on this project. When all is said and done I believe I gained a life long friend and client.

As always a big thanks goes out to Hank Linderman, Keb’ Mo’, Jeff Paris and Stephen Marsh of Stephen Marsh Mastering for helping bring a vision to fruition. Keep your eyes open for a early 2010 release of “I Want It All Back”
